After the Storm...

So after the storm comes a winterwonderland. This is why we live in Colorado. It is so beautiful. Cold, but beautiful. We start the day today at -5 degrees and it has warmed up to a nice 25 degrees. We started our ski season last weekend. 3 feet of fresh powder! We only got stuck a few times. This weekend should be much better. They received more snow yesterday and have had the week to do some more grooming. Tomorrow might be the day to head back up and try it again. One more week of school for Sammi and Dylan. They will have plenty of time to get some skiing in during their 2 week Christmas break.

Latest house update...
We have drywall and garage doors!!! They will start to tape and texture drywall next week, The infloor heat tubing will be installed and the gypcrete poured. Yes, we are moving along. We are getting so excited. We still don't have an exact completion date, but it will be here before we know it. Until the next time, Enjoy the season!

Welcome to Winter!

Snow!!!! Just what we have been asking for. The snow came in late last night and hasn't stopped yet. The ski areas are finally opening this weekend and with great snow! The kids were sent home from school after only hours and have been having a blast in the snow. Brent on the other hand is looking for places to move the snow. We've never seen so much snow in such a short time. I guess we will have a white Christmas after all!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The snow has finally arrived! It has been so dry this November and it is such a great sight to see the snow. We can't wait to start skiing. Now the 22 degrees is another story!

We hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are so happy to have Chris, Karen, Emily, Olivia and Sierra to celebrate with. Holidays are so much better when you have family to share them with. Now I am off to start the cooking. Enjoy the day!

Can't believe it's November already!

Once again, the days have flown by. We are back from Montreal (we had a great time!) and another Halloween has come and gone and it looks like we survived. The kids had a great time at school and again after school trick or treating all around town. Dylan wanted to do the blood and gore thing, but I just couldn't go there yet. He is only 8 after all. So we went with the skateboarder/punkster route. He looks really great don't you think? Sammi went the classic route with one of my favorites, Dorothy. Can't believe how cute she looked. Brings back so many memories of when she was 3 and in love with The Wizard of Oz. During that year she watched the show nonstop. At any given moment during that year you could walk into our house and find the movie playing and of course she was Dorothy for Halloween that year too. Boy do the years go by....

Brent and I had fun dressing up for our friend's masquerade ball. Carla if you are reading this, you will be happy to see that I had another opportunity to wear the bridesmaid dress : )

The house is moving along well. The windows are in and the roof is complete. The electricians and plumbers are moving right along. We should have our first inspections this week. If everything goes well we should be insulating and drywalling in the next 2 weeks. These are the latest pictures of the windows from the inside and outside, as well as the biggest septic tank I have ever seen!!

<------Have you ever seen a septic tank this big???
How many people do they think are living here!
That's it for now. Have a great week!

The Roof Is On!!!!

Sorry I haven't been more prompt with the photo updates, but the days seem to be flying by. Where does the time go??

We are packing to leave for our Annual Best Western Convention in Montreal. We leave early Friday morning and will be gone for a week. I wanted to share the lastest pictures before we leave.

The tresses and gables have all been put on and they are now working on sheeting the roof. The plumbers have all been hard at work this week and most of the plumbing rough-in is in place. It actually looks like a house. We should be all dried in by the end of the month and then the real fun begins.
Here are the latest picutres. I will give more of an update when we return from Montreal.

Have a great week!

Happy Sunday!

With school and soccer season in full swing we are going in many directions. Both Dylan and Samantha had their first games this Saturday. Unfortunately both teams lost, but they did play awesome. Sammi is playing goalie these days and is doing a great job. Dylan in U10 is playing all over the field, wherever he is needed. Sammi's developmental team played a 5 V 5 tournament in Aspen last weekend and they took 2 place. This did wonders for all their self confidence and now they know they can do it. That's Sammi in the goal.

Our house construction is moving along very well. I have enclosed the latest pictures. We are totally framed on the first floor and the second floor exterior walls are done as well as the garage has been framed. They will sheet the house this week and the roof tresses should be here in a week or so. It is getting very exciting. We can actually see and feel how the house will look when complete. We can't wait to start working on the finishes.

This picture to the right is the southern view from the second floor. This will be Sammi's room.

The next picture below is the view to the north and were Dylan's room will be.

This is the view of the loft on the second floor looking up from the living room.

The living room firplace wall. This is full view as of this Friday.

This is what you would look at
when you first drive up our drive from either direction. There will be a horseshoe driveway in front of the house. You can either drive up to the garages or the front of the house as is shown in the picture below.

And of course, there is Dylan in all his glory!
And in closing Lucky and Lily send their good cheer....

Have a great week!!!!

We have officially entered the new Millenium!!!

Hello All!

Welcome to our new blog. Never thought it would happen to us, but times are a changing! With friends and family being so far away, we thought it would be much easier to share the events of our lives with all of you by creating this blog.

With the building of our first house and moving off of the hotel property, the next year will bring many fun new adventures for us... Adventures that we would like to share with you. So if you are interested, check back each week and we will have new pictures posted and you can watch our house being built along with us. Of course we will share the many adventures of Samantha and Dylan too!

So hear we go....
This is our land and the view from our land:

The footers are poured:
And we have walls!!!!

That's where we are as of this week. The interior walls should be done this week so stay tuned...

And it wouldn't be a Jewell Family Blog without a mention of Sammi and Dylan. School started yesterday. Sammi started 5th Grade and Dylan 3rd Grade. They both have great teachers and so far on day 2 things are good!

Until the next time......
